Michael Gummery
Originally from the UK, Michael obtained a BSc (Hons) in Economics at the University of Bath before joining Ernst & Young UK where he worked for 7 years. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland and an Australian Registered Company Auditor.
On moving to Melbourne in 2012, Michael joined the audit and corporate finance team at HLB Mann Judd where he specialises primarily in assisting ASX listed and private companies. He is experienced in working on cross border assignments, interacting regularly with clients and teams across Asia, especially mainland China.
Michael has experience working on a range of corporate finance transactions, including IPOs, IARs and due diligence assignments. He is currently assisting a number of domestic and international businesses with initial public offerings on the ASX.
Michael is co-director of the Melbourne chapter of the Australia China Young Professionals Initiative. In his spare time he enjoys playing soccer and following Sunderland in the English Premier League.
Angela Luo
Inspired by her background as an Australian-born-Chinese, Angela has been passionate about learning the Chinese language from a young age.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, majoring in Management and Marketing and completing a breadth sequence in Chinese. Angela was selected to complete the University of Melbourne Extension Program in the Chinese language and she’s undertaken a Chinese language course at Nanjing University. Angela is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Angela joined Westpac and Bank of Melbourne as a Commercial and Retail Banking Graduate and she’s currently an Associate in the Infrastructure and Resources team at the Westpac Institutional Bank. Angela was an active member of the Australia-China Young Professionals Initiative (ACYPI) and she has now joined the committee to give back in helping young professionals broaden their understanding about the Australia-China relationship.
Angela enjoys learning about different things and her favourite quote is, “be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle”.
